I don't know about the Tundra, I never have checked mine, but most cars and trucks run the A/C evaporator on the passenger side. If the drain for the evaporter cloges up, the water will end up in the passenger floor board. If you have run your A/C lately, (or defroster), you might check that drain.

Mack is more than likely right, the drain tube for the evaporator is probably clogged or partially clogged. It's possible that you have a gasket leak in a window or something but more than likely that drain is clogged. It has happened on 2 of my other cars before.

You can see the evaporator housing (big black platic thing) if you take out the glove compartment. I believe you can see the drain line as well. It is in the engine compartment, passenger side, toward the bottom. It is typically a black plastic tube about the size of your pinky finger and it is usually dripping water.

Sometimes you can unclog it yourself. I have taken "zip tie" and stuck it up inside the drain tube and poke it around. You will know when it's not clogged up anymore by the sudden rush of water coming out of the tube. Good luck.

there's an idea I hadn't thought about... I have been using my a/c lately and didn't realize that the drain tube was on the passenger side...

I only hope that it's that and nothing major... think there might be rust build up under the carpet??

Should I take everything apart and check?

If your truck is still under warranty I would take it into the dealership and let them fix it.

At a bare minimum I would take up the carpet there and let it dry out.

I had the same wet passenger floor everytime i went thru the car wash and it was coming thru the heater fan. seems that with enough force the water comes thru the induction vent(outside the windshield at back of the hood) and is forced into the induction plenum into the fan thus into the vehicle. My dealer corrected very easily, took about an hour.

Hopefully it's that drain and not your heater coil going bad. It doesn't sound like it's coil though because if it was, you'd know by the terrible smell in the cabin and a bit more moister on your passenger side than what was on the mat. If it is the coil, lookout.. it's about a 6+ hour job to rip out the dash board to get to the thing.

 

I had the same problem in my Tacoma. I ended up trading it in for my Tundra so never resolved the issue.

 

Since jajeh5 mentioned... "Tacoma"... I'll add this as a possibility.

The Tacoma... and... the Tundra... have an "external" radio antenna. Speaking from "personal" experience... a couple of years ago, I had a leakage problem with my Tacoma as well... also... on the passenger side. I ignorantly let it go, thinking it was possibly A/C condensation. Well, after several hard rains and finding the carpet "SOAKED" I realized... I had a SERIOUS PROBLEM!

I carried the truck to a local Toyota dealer and find out the "rubber" grommet which the antenna goes through into the cab was COMPLETELY GONE/MISSING! And when it rained... the antenna cable was like a pure "channel", funneling water into the cab. Since the antenna curves upward, toward the radio right in the middle of the passenger floor area... water was dripping off at this point onto the carpet... making for one... HELL OF A MESS!!!

The dealer "couldn't"... or... more than likely... "wouldn't"... sell me "JUST" the grommet. Oh no... to get that "little" gommet... I had to "buy" the entire antenna assembly. Well... that "wasn't" gonna happen! So, I used a clear silicone sealant and "gooped" it around the antenna, where it comes through the metal body panel... "PROBLEM SOLVED"! I haven't had a single "wet spot" on my passenger side carpet since.

This "may" or may not be the problem... but it is... worth looking into... as I believe the least "little" deterioration or hole in this "grommet" will cause a leak! Mater of fact... it could be as simple as the grommet being... out of place or not complete "seated" properly!
